David Jaffe clamors for Calling All Cars

On his latest blog entry, David Jaffe would like to inform everyone that they had officially changed the title of downloadable game Criminal Crackdown. The God of War mastermind further explained that this is to avoid possible lawsuits as well as to give the game a fresh and more appropriate feel.

Sony likes to give us as much room as possible between our game names and other game names which is nice. But challenging as well because there have been ALOT of video games made over the last 30-35 years,” blogged Jaffe. As a result, their team suddenly huddled into a focus group meeting to decide on the new title. Jaffe even remembered when someone suggested “Jet Moto” and they were all like, “Dude, no.”

During that time, they haven’t come up yet with an official new title but they are sure of one thing: Criminal Crackdown is no more. Other suggestions include “Crazy Crooks,” “Robber on the Run” and “Felony Frenzy.” No suggestion was given the thumbs up sign save for one. It came from a designer whom Jaffe refers to as Adam.

Calling All Cars

Calling All Cars was Adam’s suggestion. It stuck all of sudden and that’s it. The game’s new title, we repeat, is Calling All Cars. We’d like to know what you think of the new title. But as far as Jaffe is concerned, he had this words written on his blog: “And I love it. I love it more that Criminal Crackdown. I think it just fits better.”
