DDO Monster Profile: Mummy

mummy
Nope, we’re not talking about your mothers; we’re referring to one of the foes you’ll encounter in DDO, the mummy.

Creature Name:
Mummy
Creature Type: Undead
Environment: Usually temples and tombs
Attack: Slam, melee weapons, spells
Special: Despair, Mummy Rot
Organization: Solitary, pair, or gang (3-5)

Unlike the other undead enemies, the Mummy is preserved with pungent spices and balms as well as dark magic. Mummies live (or not live) to do one thing and one thing alone: to destroy trespassers and intruders. Mummies are awfully strong, and their Despair specialty which precedes them into battle make them really hard to fight off.

Be careful of being inflected with Mummy Rot also, because if left untreated, you’ll only have minutes before your entire body turns into dust. When inflicted with Mummy Rot, don’t panic and splash on tons of healing magic and potions for this will only prove to be futile, you will need skills and spells, and this is where your Cleric or high-level Paladin comes in.

Less common but of higher echelon than the mummies are your Mummy Lords, the trustees of long-forgotten rulers. Think all the  terrors and hardship of encountering a mummy but with more powerful spells.

While mummies are awfully strong and all that, they do have a weakness: fire. When fighting off mummies, use fire as your main weapon as mummies cannot withstand a fiery onslaught. Remember these tips when you encounter mummies, and we hope you’ll never have to call your mommy to help you with them.
