Details on SPEED TV’s Forza Motorsport Showdown

In case you’ve forgotten, you can still have a doze of Forza Motorsport 2 prior to its release this May. Cable television network SPEED TV announced last October that it will be hosting a four-episode live-action series called “Forza Motorsport Showdown.” The said show will feature real-life racers in a US$ 100,000 winner-take-all-format.

At the eve of the program’s pilot episode, SPEED TV finally released interesting details about “Forza Motorsport Showdown”. Accordingly, it will be hosted by Lee Reherman, the same dude who appeared as Hawk on “American Gladiator”. The network’s VP for Programming Robert Ecker commented,

These are real people, real crews and real cars battling it out for a very significant cash prize. It’s a very dynamic production encompassing an incredible amount of drama and suspense. Each team and personality has to excel in every one of these racing categories to be competitive. There’s not much room for error.

Speaking of real people and real cars, six amateur racers made it to the final cut. The world famous Road Atlanta Speedway will be used as the battleground with different course types including Atlanta Dragway At Commerce’s Quarter Mile, Road Atlanta’s Autocross for Drifting, Two Road Courses, and Lanier Speedway’s Oval Track.

It’s also worth mentioning that the best driver for each event will be awarded with “credits”. These, in turn, can be used by the contestant at the Year One Speed Shop for upgrades that will have to be installed before the next event.
