DS Web Browser: Release date & more info

Japanese magazine Nintendo Power has some more information on the new Opera-based DS browser in it’s newest issue.

According to them, the browser will be released in June – but only in Japan for now. Dates for other regions are not known yet, apart from a rumor pointing to a December release in the US.

It won’t be a download, but instead will be sold as a regular DS cartridge, with a price of 3800 yen – about 32 dollars.

The DS browser uses an innovative scaling method to display websites – the touchscreen presents an overview of the site, while you can move a pink square over it with the stylus. The selected area gets fully displayed on the top screen.

If you aren’t comfortable with that, a regular fit-to-width mode is also provided, working in the same way as the PSP browser.
