After the mostly dismal showing of last year’s Castlevania Judgment, Konami is once again trying to take the Castlevania franchise in a new, albeit slightly more familiar, direction with the open-world action title, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
After the mostly dismal showing of last year’s Castlevania Judgment, Konami is once again trying to take the Castlevania franchise in a new, albeit slightly more familiar, direction with the open-world action title, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
The game tells the story of Gabriel, a holy knight who must travel a destroyed and spirit-haunted world, defeating the evil Lords of Shadow in order to use their powers to bring balance back to the world. He comes armed with the Combat Cross, a versatile weapon that can be used both as a whip and a sword.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is the third game teased in Kojima Productions‘ mostly MGS-centric teaser site a week back. Development is being handled mainly by Mercury Steam, with Hideo Kojima and KojiPro helping them out. It’s currently scheduled for a 2010 release on PS3 and Xbox 360.
