European, AU gamers get jump on VC title: Donkey Kong Country 3

Looks like European and Australian gamers will be celebrating Christmas earlier than their U.S. counterparts as the Wii Shop Channel offers Nintendo’s classic platformer Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong Double Trouble! up for grabs as a Virtual Console download.

It looks like European and Australian gamers will be beating locals in North America to the punch for once.

To be a little more specific, they’ll be getting Nintendo’s Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble! on the Virtual Console ahead of everyone else as the downloadable title is now available through the Wii Shop Channel.

This sparks a Christmas giveaway for Wii gamers as the VC title gets the jump on the usual “Virtual Console Friday” release in the States. Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble! is set at a nominal price of 800 Wii points.

For those of you who haven’t lived long enough to remember the game, the third iteration of the Donkey Kong Country series on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System introduces two new playable Kongs to the series: Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong.

If you think that’s two more Kongs in a game more than there should be, that’s because they’re mission is to save Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong from the evil clutches of the Kremlings’ new leader KAOS.

In any case, this game is just filled with nostalgia for the veteran gamers. If you’re living in far off Europe or Australia, you can just hop on to the Wii Shop Channel and get yourself a copy of this fun arcade platformer.
