Free Game with XBox 360 Live Vision camera

TotemBall (and the guy playing it)

Microsoft released news during Gamefest that a free game will ship along with the new XBox 360 Live Vision camera on its possible September launch.

Announced earlier this year, Totemball, developed by UK-based Strange Flavour and Freeverse, has the player controlling a wheeled totem pole with hand gestures. Players must navigate through each level against a time limit, collecting items along the way.

The release of the Live Vision camera demonstrates Microsoft’s intent to compete with the PlayStation 2 and 3’s Eye Toy system, but Totemball isn’t Freeverse’s first foray into gesture-controlled gaming. They’ve also developed ToySight for the Macintosh, for use with the Apple iSight camera.

Totemball is the only title on the 360’s official lineup to feature motion tracking/gesture control; however, Microsoft revealed that there are more gesture-controlled games in development. GameStop reports the camera for a September 19 launch at US$39.99, though Microsoft hasn’t officially confirmed either report.
