Freeware game N coming to Xbox Live Arcade

N - Image 1If you haven’t heard about freeware Flash-based computer game N, get out of here! Nah, just kidding. We’re pretty sure anyway that you’ve seen this one before. For those who haven’t, it’s a side-scrolling game that features a realistic physics engine. To help you get a picture of this better, a lot of those who’ve played it say that it’s actually reminiscent of Lode Runner and Soldat.

Anyway, developer Metanet Software came out anew today and announced that they will be bringing the game to Xbox 360 via its Live Arcade feature. They also mentioned that development will begin on February 1 with the help of Vancouver-based studio Klei Entertainment. Part of their official statement reads:

We will make sure that this incarnation of N remains as close to the original as possible, in terms of gameplay, graphics and fun. We’re including a level editor so players can make and swap their own levels, and we’re testing out exciting new features such as multiplayer modes as well. Expect to see N+ on Live Arcade fall 2007.

The original N came out sometime May of 2005 and grabbed that year’s Audience Choice Award during the Independent Games Festival. On a slightly different topic though, we wonder if fans would be willing to get this one. We honestly like the game, but as we’ve said, it’s a freeware and in fact, a download of it can be found in Metanet’s official site (via the Read link).

Well, we guess it’s a new experience after all when you’re playing 2D on a console. What do you think?
