Japan gets PS3 demo discs with pre-loaded PSN content

PS3 - Image 1First-time owners of PS3 consoles in Japan are let in on a new kind of promotional campaign. SCEJ has announced that PS3 units in Japan will be getting a freebie disc containing demos and trailers from the PSN. Some choice slabs of meat (i.e. DLC trailers and demos) were compiled and put on discs for the users’ convenience: MGS4 demo, LBP trailer, etc. Here’s something interesting though: apparently, the RE5 demo is not exclusive to the Xbox 360 in Japan. It’s now part of SCEJ’s demo discs!

First-time owners of PS3 consoles in Japan are let in on a new kind of promotional campaign. See, SCEJ has announced that PS3 units in Japan will be getting a freebie disc containing demos and trailers from the PSN.

The immediate benefit, of course, is that the new PS3 owner doesn’t have to go online and download all of the content from PSN. Some choice slabs of meat were compiled and put on discs for the users’ convenience.

There are two kinds of discs to choose from: the red disc is for general content, while the white one is for mature audiences. Strange why the red disc was the one representing the more non-violent content.

While everything on the discs are already available on PSN, here’s something interesting. Apparently, the RE5 demo is not exclusive to the Xbox 360 in Japan. It’s now part of the White Disc!

Red Disc (Family Friendly)

  • Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm (demo)
  • Pro Evolution Soccer: Winning Eleven 2009 (demo)
  • The Last Guy (demo)
  • Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 (trailer)
  • LittleBigPlanet (trailer)
  • Aquanaut’s Holiday (trailer)
  • Afrika (trailer)

White Disc (Mature)

  • Resident Evil 5 (demo)
  • Metal Gear Solid 4 (demo)
  • Metal Gear Online (demo)
  • Valkyria Chronicles (demo)
  • Yakuza 3 (trailer)
  • Demon’s Souls (trailer)
  • White Knight Chronicles (trailer)
  • Resistance 2 (trailer)

Both demo discs are to be available in Japanese retail on December 18.
