EA is surprisingly being very candid about Medal of Honor. Executive producer Greg Goodrich admits that the game probably won’t be the most revolutionary first-person shooter ever, but it’s certainly going to be highly polished.

“What we’re focusing on is making a great first-person shooter,” Goodrich told Destructoid. “[If we don’t] put out [a game] that revolutionize[s] the genre, so be it, but we’re showing up to do a great game — a great experience that fans will love.”

“Nowadays, especially in the shooter genre, if you show up to the table, you have to show up with quality — you have to show up with a product that’s meant to be at the forefront of this genre,” he explained. “Because if you show up with a product that’s not of quality, you might as well just not show up — there’s no point.”

Of course, Medal of Honor will still bring some new stuff to the table. Goodrich points to the enemy AI’s unexpected and unconventional tactics as well as Medal of Honor‘s story approach as something not found in other shooters. “But at the end of the day,” Goodrich said, “it’s all about making a great shooter, and not necessarily pushing the genre forward.”
