Microsoft: Gearbox is not working on a Halo game
Back in February 2008, Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford said that he was directing a new project that was as big as a project can get. Somehow, that statement got turned into a rumor that Gearbox was working on a Halo game. Yeah, I’m not sure how that line of thinking started, but in any case, Microsoft has flat out denied it.

Yeah, I’m not sure how that line of thinking started, but in any case, Microsoft has flat out denied that Gearbox is developing a Halo game for them. Here’s the official word as posted on the Halo Waypoint Twitter account:
In retrospect, the project Pitchford was so psyched about could have been the recently unearthed War Hero IP. Gearbox is still keeping details under wraps so it’ll probably still be some time until we get to see if it is indeed as big as Pitchford says it is.
