Moonshell – Finished!

MoonshellGoodbyeAs reported earlier, the final version of Moonshell was recently released. Infantile Paralysiser, the developer, has been developing Moonshell, a multimedia player for the NDS. The NDS was constructed with no multimedia support other than gaming, and Infantile Paralysiser changed that with Moonshell. Moonshell brought top MP3 quality and various other multimedia onto the NDS. The interface utilizes both screens, optimizing the player to the max! Moonshell has been a huge success in the homebrew community, being compatible with all the NDS “flashcarts” and adapters.

When I looked into the homebrew scene, I looked at the M3 SD adapter, but when I heard it could not run Moonshell, I decided to take a long time to decide. After coming to the conclusion that Moonshell would run in the future, I bought the adapter. Moonshell, only a month later was compatible with the M3 SD adapter. This single program made my M3 purchase worth every penny. Moonshell is now part of the new M3 NDS GUI/Software, making it even more accessible to the M3 owners.

Infantile Paralysiser left us a final note on his Moonshell application discussing the controversial source code. Paralysiser has stated that the source code will not be released, but as always, partial modification of the program and partial use of the source code is allowed. Finally, the developer leaves one piece of advice to developers looking at Moonshell –

MoonShell (and plug-ins) was made by using devkitPror17 and libnds-20060201.
The subutility was made by using Delphi7.
The DPG decoding slows if libnds-20060410 is used. This is not recommended.
A new device can be easily added by processing the following. (We wish sincerely to express our gratitude for Chishm. )
gba_nds_fat_2006-02-09_unicode_M3SD_ReadAlignDetect/disc_io.c/c and io_xxxx.c/h

Moonshell is, and will always be one of the greatest homebrew applications for the NDS, and will always be on my list of “must-haves.” Good luck Infantile Paralysiser on future projects that you may undertake!
