More Resistance: Fall of Man details (and a video) invade the media

Every time this writer comes to write and work, he sees even more Resistance: Fall of Man details ooze out from the frenzy that he hasn’t seen yet (Sometimes I joke that I could make a career out of watching Resistance). Well, thanks to Frisco’s Gamers’ Day and 1UP, Ted Price can announce even more irresistible Resistance details for the media to ooze. I call it job security.

Okay, first off, he talks about dual-wield weapons, John Woo-style (Akimbo). They can target enemies independently of each other. First you aim and fire at one target, says Ted, then a second targeting reticule appears and you can aim at another (presumably without breaking your lock on Target #1). Frickin’ cool if you ask me, though I wonder that the risks of cross-eyed vision might be. It would be nice to see this in action somewhere – and we’re still looking.

Next is the sniper rifle’s “focus mode.” We’ve seen this before in titles like Max Payne, where you can slow down time to pull off nasty head shots. What you may not know is what Ted reveals: there are more weak points to aim at than simply just heads. Keep that in mind, soldier. Focus Mode will NOT work during multiplayer, however, for the obvious reasons.

Finally, remember when we told you about the military raking system in multiplayer leaderboards? Ted says that with each promotion in rank you receive, you will receive special unlockables such as costumes and stuff, you bada**, you. Also, if you prove to be such a bada** in single-player, like when you breeze through two levels in a row, the game will bump the AI up a notch to, er, punish you for your success so far.

And to top it all off, 1UP sister site GameVideos posted this six-minute single-player gameplay vid to ooze off even more Resistance goodness. Except that, when I played it off GameVideos, the audio stuttered. Before anyone jumps to conclusions, I downloaded the full vid myself and checked it out: the audio was perfect. Maybe it was the Flash Player? Either way, we’re providing both the embedded Flash video and downloadable for you to enjoy.
