SOCOM: Confrontation - Image 1Sony‘s Project Manager for PlayStation Peripherals, Anand Agarwal, has posted on the PlayStation blog to let us in on more details on the up and coming official Bluetooth Headset for the PlayStation 3. Yeah, that’s right. Sit up.

We already have the product overview as well as the specs (they’re pretty much the same with what Japan’s getting) – which Agarwal also reiterated in his post, but still it seems like there’s more to learn about this peripheral – particularly within Slant Six‘s SOCOM game. Here’s a few other tidbits you might want to know:

  • HQ mode (which also maximize noise cancellation techniques) will enable accurate speech recognition required to support “Voice Command” and “Voice Animation” features.
  • The headset automatically pairs with the PS3 by connecting with a USB cable.

Also, while we did report on the Japanese launch (October 30) and price of the PS3 Bluetooth headset in Japan, we now also have information on how much it will cost in North America. Angarwal says it’s coming out this fall (Amazon says it’s for September 30) and will cost US$ 59.99 MSRP with the SOCOM: Confrontation bundle, and US$ 49.99 as a standalone peripheral.
