Alone in the Dark by Eden Games - Image 1German gaming magazine PC Games revealed juicy details of French developer Eden GamesAlone in the Dark: Near Death Investigation (Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, PC), and almost confirmed that the fifth installment in the Alone in the Dark series coming this spring 2008 is going to be everything a fan would hope for.

Aside from what developers were able to reveal before, what piqued our interest is the mention of Havok engine-powered physics. According to someone who translated the German mag, the environment will deform in realistic ways. For one, it’s possible to easily break wooden doors down with heavy weapons while metal doors require more blows. And yes, no need for keys anymore.

Combining items will be protagonist Edward Carnby‘s ticket for survival this time around. Supposedly, every single object can be used as a weapon. Cooking something up also seems like it can be done on the fly, since item combinations can be mapped to buttons for easy use.

It’s also interesting to note that Eden said players can reach every location they see in the game. Realistic fire, which is among the main gameplay elements, will probably be used in burning obstacles down. Flames can also turn wooden chairs into torches that you can bash enemies with.

Many snippets we’ve heard of before, such as the ability to attach various items to enemies, are also in the German PC Games February 2008 issue. It also confirmed that the sequel to Uwe Boll’s movie based on the series is already finished.
