The trilogy is an episodic re-interpretation of the PC original, aiming to run at 60fps. Executive producer Bjorn Larsson is pretty excited about the game’s move into the Wii. “The Wii Remote™ controller is a perfect match for aerial combat – we are currently trying a variety of control-schemes to see what works best, we want to bring players as close as possible to flying in their living rooms,” he said.

The premiere episode, “Red Sun Rising” will have players manning the cockpit of a P40 Warhawk and the F4U Corsair – two very prominent aircraft in World War II. You’ll be up against invading A6M2 Zero fighters and other notable Japanese planes, and you get to dogfight in the skies of the Pacific Theater, Pearl Harbor, Wake Island and the Battle of Midway.

Red Sun Rising is scheduled for a Winter 2009 release, only on WiiWare. For more info, you can check the publisher’s press release through here.
