Rumor: Rock Band guitar more expensive on Xbox 360?

A lot of rumors and speculations come and go regarding the prices of Rock Band‘s peripherals. Some fear that this title from Harmonix could be the most expensive game yet, even with the devs reassuring everything will be affordable. Joystiq claims to have received a memo from a supposed Game Crazy employee which lists the prices of each peripheral.

Notice how the X360 Rock Band Wireless Guitar is tagged US$ 79.99, twenty bucks more than PS3’s US$ 59.99. Some believe that royalties paid to Microsoft for the use of wireless technology could make the consumers suffer. In other words, it is very much feasible that 360 owners would have to pay more.

Official word is: “We have not released any pricing details regarding Rock Band as of yet, but stay tuned.” Joystiq also reports to have received a reply from a Harmonix rep, saying “I am not aware of a price discrepancy.” Looks like there’s no need to fret just yet; let’s just hope Harmonix keeps the promise of keeping these peripherals budget-friendly.
