Sony Steps Up Media Blitz For PS3

PS3As the Tokyo Game Show looms ever nearer, Sony has began the scramble and has been actively and aggressively parading the Playstation 3 by launching a media campaign which is being felt all throughout the Pacific region. Unfortunately, the updates that they have been distributing to the likes of Famitsu Weekly and Dengeki Playstation, popular Japanese gaming magazines, do not really contain anything new.

In the meantime, the company has also been doing its part online with the creation of the teaser site for the major SCEJ Tokyo Game Show (TGS) titles, especially since the company has promised at least 27 playable games by the time the TGS comes around. However, just as with the magazines, the site’s only plus is that it’s pretty, but it does not contain any newsworthy information.

Perhaps the only interesting tidbit that can be gleaned from this would be a statement from Sony executive Phil Harrison who, during an interview with Dangeki, made some comments on Sony’s PS3 lineup, saying, “The common area for all the titles is that they’re scheduled to have functions that use the network in some form, be it large scale multiplayer play or downloads.” This is a hint that the PS3 may be online right from the time it is released this November.
