Steam gets their Chat Client update

Steam logo - Image 1Valve has just announce their plans on releasing an update soon for both their text chat and voice communication that runs on Source Engine. This is due to the company’s aim to continually enhance the social aspects in videogaming by allowing the players to communicate with each other in an easier way.

The following changes are some of the stuff you can look forward to seeing once the update is done (and we quote):

  • We’ve completely rebuilt the text chat system, adding the ability to browse your chat history right in the chat window and a filter to remove messages that clutter your game screen.
  • voice communication will be getting a huge boost in quality, so if you have a microphone sitting on the corner of your desk collecting dust, now would be a good time to plug it back in.

And in the spirit of hitting two birds with one stone, Valve has also announced that they’re running a limited time-edition price cutback of up to 25% for Half-Life 2, which is reportedly selling for US$ 22.45.
