Still weird and pixel-y: a Hot PXL trailer

You see, we have no problem with games that try to look cool and hip. There’s just something completely off, however, whenever we think of Atari‘s Hot PXL, and it’s probably the uncontrolled geek factor behind it.

Imagine, if you will, a mix of Wario Ware, Feel the Magic XY/XX, and a gangly teen in glasses. Now, imagine 200 mini-games, all of them seemingly weird and nonsensical, carrying the “gangly teen in glasses” idea to new heights. Yes, it’s strange, but you know that somewhere beyond all that weirdness is a great game to pick up and play when you’re doing absolutely nothing… and you realize that all the completely unrelated ideas in the game itself seems to spark of absolute genius.

Either that, or thinking about playing Hot PXL has driven you completely insane.

Maybe that’s exactly the draw behind it. Of course, you’ll have to wait for February 2007 to play it on Sony’s handheld, but waiting shouldn’t be so bad. In any case, here’s a video while we wait, and remember: there’s a mini game that lets you trace the tattoo on a girl’s back. Sweet!
