Tears to Tiara remake, new SRPG hitting the PS3

Tears to Tiara
was a pretty good game for the PC back in 2005, considering other games in its genre. Some would even say that comparing the title to other h-games won’t give it justice. From the makers of ToHeart, which is arguably the most influential visual novels in history, Tears to Tiara added more gameplay depth to adult-oriented games by being an SRPG. Simply put, it was a high-quality title with full voice-over and animated movies that deviate from cheap h-game flicks.

A lot of you guys probably haven’t even heard of the title, given good stuff like these rarely leave Japan. Tears to Tiara: Earth’s Wreath will be going next-gen to the PS3, but we can’t say it will reach the west. Importers might want to keep an eye though: as a complete remake, the game will feature fresh graphics which we see on these eye candy screens. Like ToHeart‘s port to the original PlayStation, we expect hentai scenes to be removed.

The story is about Aloun, a devil who was sealed for 1000 years. Riannon, the heroine, breaks the seal in an attempt to save her older brother. You’d guess what happens next – she gets emotionally attached to the devil, they tag along, and we get to enjoy the ride.

What promises to be an epic adventure story we are yet to unwrap will be delivered in the old fashion of character portraits with message boxes on the bottom as these screens show. The game will switch between adventure sequences and SRPG battle segments.

Set for 2008, Tears to Tiara: Earth’s Wreath along with Disgaea 3 should fuel the desire of SRPG fans who haven’t moved next-gen yet.
