TGS 2006 Bleach Wii gameplay video

Wii at the TGS

Bleach Wii!!An anime fan’s dream would be to be able to wield other-worldly powers at will and look cool while at it. But since that’s a bit too far-fetched to look forward to, perhaps the next best thing would be to just get a copy of Sega‘s Bleach Wii Shiraha Kirameku Rondo when it comes out in Japan on December 31.

At the ongoing Tokyo Game Show, the gameplay video that we currently have was featured over at the Sega booth. It shows our hero Kurosaki Ichigo battling against 11th Division captain Zaraki Kenpachi where an exciting duel ensues.

We’ve followed Tite Kubo’s creation in both manga and anime forms, one thing that we’ve been wondering about is how players will be able to use everyone’s ultimate moves which is their Bankai, all using the Wiimote. For example, 6th Division’s Abarai Renji has a bankai which involves a lot of slashing motions in order to make full use of its snake-like form. As for his captain, Kuchiki Byakuya, in order to summon his bankai, will a player have to…er… gracefully drop the Wiimote and hope it sinks through the floor and scatter into a million shards of deadly pink stuff?

Either way, this is one game we’d love to have since pulling some slick moves and getting to shout “BANKAI!!!” really sounds like a lot of fun. But again, we wonder whether we’ll end up knowing anyone who, after playing this game, starts calling his or her Wiimote “Zangetsu”…
