The tale of Synapse, a megalomaniac warlock

Warlock - Image 1Looking for a bit of non-canon to spice up your World of Warcraft experience? Trying to remember what it was like starting out as a noob in Northshire Abbey? You should probably try to read up on the adventures of Synapse, a megalomaniacal human warlock trying to make her way in the world.

Curufinwe of Kael’thas began posting the adventures of Synapse after he stumbled upon them in Blizzard‘s French forums:

Originally written in French, the story is currently a few hundred pages long. At first, it was just written for the fun of it, but as time passed, it became increasingly popular, and turned into a fully grown tale, and is now arguably the most popular WoW-based fan fiction on the French forums (60 page long thread, about 85 000 views).

Currently, you’ll only be able to view the first seven chapters in English, but they should be enough to whet your appetite. For one thing, it talks about the most humble beginnings of each character made in a very megalomaniacal fashion, from choosing a race to acquiring a name and class. It also tells the story of Synapse’s underwhelming adventures as a starting warlock, and her further training under Bizrot, her imp “slave”.

Needless to say, it’s a fun diversion on a slow day. Besides, warlock or not, the references will definitely be readily understandable to most folk. Enjoy!
