XBLA pimping from Microsoft’s Bryan Trussel

ComputerAndVideoGames (CVG – because their long uncut name is a mouthful) informs that they were able to sit down with manager Bryan Trussel of Microsoft‘s Casual Games Group, and a few details regarding Microsoft’s plans for Xbox Live Arcade this year was revealed.

According to Trussel, not only are they planning to release more specialized Euro-centric games and increase the size limit, they’re also trying to bump the pipeline. This means that they want to have more games come out on Wednesdays, and more importantly, have games come out every week. Basically, they’re going to try to turn Wednesdays into a “destination time.”

They also plan to play-up the achievements aspect and the gamerscore aspect of games in XBLA.

When competition from the likes of Steam and PlayStation Network was mentioned, Trussel notes that in order to keep developers interested in their service, they’re doing their best to throw a lot of support and development tools in their direction. He also takes time to boast about the fact that to day, they’ve had 25 million downloads on XBLA already, a figure that according to him is nigh untouchable.

Nothing definite was said about the eventual pricing of downloads given the larger sizes, since they’re still working on it, however, Trussel hints that we’ll probably see a correlation.
