38 Studios’ ‘Project Mercury’ now has a name

38 Studios and EA have finally unveiled the former’s top-secret RPG project. What used to be known as “Project Mercury” now has an official name: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckonin

38 Studios and EA have finally unveiled the former’s top-secret RPG project. What used to be known as “Project Mercury” now has an official name: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

 

Reckoning is a single-player, open world RPG set in the titular world of Amalur. RPG fans can look forward to the long, winding narratives, exploration components, and character customization that can be expected of games in the genre.

 

Details are still scarce, but lead designer Ken Rolston promises “a fast-paced, graphically stimulating action combat experience with fluid control and immersive, discoverable gameplay fans haven’t seen before in other fantasy RPGs.”

 

More details will be revealed during the 38 Studios Comic Con panel on July 22. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be out in fall 2011 on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
