3-year Xbox 360 warranty extended to cover E74 errors
Here’s some good news for Xbox 360 owners that encountered – or are afraid they’ll encounter – the E74 hardware fault error. Microsoft has issued an extended warranty for the E74 error similar to the one issued for RRoDs, and they’ve even announced a refund scheme for those who had to pay for E74 repairs.
Here’s some good news for Xbox 360 owners that encountered – or are afraid they’ll encounter – the E74 hardware fault error. Microsoft has issued an extended warranty for the E74 error similar to the one issued for RRoDs:
After investigating the issue, we have determined that the E74 error message can indicate the general hardware failure that is associated with three flashing red lights error on the console. As a result, we have decided to cover repairs related to the E74 error message under our three-year warranty program for certain general hardware failures that was announced in July 2007.
And here’s some even better new: If you’ve already had to pay for E74 error repairs before the new warranty was issued, Microsoft will also give you a refund “within 4-12 weeks”.
