7-11 Contest Divulges Wii Price at $299?

Slurpee Contest

Nintendo’s Wii will have a $299 price tag – according to 7-11, that is. In its on-going Slurpee “Now That’s Cold” contest, the official rules stated:

INSTANT WIN PRIZES: November 1, 2006 through January 31, 2007 the following Instant Prizes will be available to be won: (711) Nintendo Wii, ARV: $299.99 USD ($399.99 CDN) each; and (100) $60.00 USD ($70.00 CDN) Video Game Shopping Sprees awarded in the form of VISA® Gift Cards (subject to issuer’s terms and conditions).

Naturally, some future Wii fans are a bit upset because 7-11’s price is a hefty 20% higher than Nintendo’s official “not more than $250” price. 7-11’s approximate retail value of Wii may be pricier because it comes with one game. Or maybe Nintendo had a change of heart. We don’t know. But there’s still time to save up just in case the worst case scenario does come to pass. And we’re filing this in our Rumors folder for now.
