911 Caller Put on Hold by Vonage

Caller put on holdNo one likes to be put on hold – especially when your house is on fire!

That’s what happened to Loren Veltkamp a homeowner in Chanhassen, Minnesota. When Loren noticed the fire in his home he did what anyone would do and called 911 using Vonage Broadband. Expecting to be immediately forwarded to the local emergency workers he was put on hold. So as he listened to the elevator music softly playing his house was burning down. By the time the fire crew arrived the house has become a five-alarm blazing meaning the house was a total loss. The good news is that there were no injuries.

Vonage Claims they have been working steadily since June on getting there E911 access up and running after the Federal Communications Commission gave them 120 days to complete.
