Grand Theft Auto 4 to have completely unlocked maps at the start of the game?
We all know how long we’ve waited for Rockstar North‘s Grand Theft Auto 4 (for the PS3, Xbox 360) to come out – and even painfully endured rumors of an earlier release only to have them squashed again. We just couldn’t help but wonder: is the wait worth it? After reading the Grand Theft Auto 4 bit in GamingExcellence’s coverage of the PlayStation Holiday Preview Event, it looks like it’s going to be really worth it.
Why? According to a Rockstar spokesman present on the PlayStation Event, the development team is considering having all of the maps accessible as soon as you start the game. Which means less linear flow of the storyline, and players can knock themselves out in exploring the entire city as soon as they boot up the game. Here’s part of the intriguing excerpt:
Rockstar’s man on the scene told GamingExcellence that they had begun testing the various plots and that the developers were considering the possibility of having an open world completely unlocked from the start of the game.
It’s a very promising game feature. That’s not all. Rockstar Games is also working on a multiplayer mode in GTA4 that can accommodate 16 simultaneous players. We just can’t wait to see how the full game turns out. More updates to come!
