DualShock 3 support included in PS3 firmware update v1.94
Sony is definitely slowly paving the way towards the distribution of DualShock 3 controllers – even if the entire world, save for Japan, is not going to get it till next Spring. One proof is that the newest PS3 firmware upgrade, v.194, includes the much-awaited support for DualShock 3.
Firmware upgrade v1.94 is not yet downloadable, but Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction will include the firmware upgrade in its package. It is the first game to have built-in support for the third incarnation of the DualShock controllers.
It may seem to be a long wait till the launch of DualShock 3 in the US and Europe, but its better to be prepared and have the firmware upgrade with DualShock 3 support early, than having to scramble for the download before the controller’s release, of course.
