Sony comments on October NPD results
After the sales results for October released by the NPD Group, Sony gave its stand on the numbers, saying that the PlayStation brand is still strong and has shown a solid increase in sales.
Moreover, PSP sales are up 120% due to the new design of the PSP Slim. Sony concludes by saying the PlayStation 2 is still the best-selling gaming platform ever released.
After the sales results for October released by the NPD Group, Sony Computer Entertainment America gave its stand on the numbers, saying that the PlayStation brand is still strong and has shown a solid increase in sales, particularly with the PSP.
SCEA explains that the PlayStation brand showed a 39% increase in retail, with sales amounting to US$ 353.4 million. Sales of the PS3 and the PS2 alone stood at US$ 258.5 million in revenue. PS3 sales have increased to 100,000 per week.
The PSP meanwhile is a hit in the market, with a 120% in the market thanks to the redesign. The PSP Slim, which sold 286,000 units for October, is expected to continue gaining momentum for the following months.
