A Gamers’ Manifesto

A Gamers' ManifestoThere is one article that I’ve held very close to my heart during my years as a gamer. Sure, we got the jiggawatt Playstation 3s churning out more teraflops than a $2000 pc, or an Xbox 360 dishing out ultra-realistic graphics. But, do we really get what we want ?

Sure, that odd addictive MMORPG might take up a few weeks of our time, or that super-duper realistic FPS might make us crap in our pants. But has there really been any innovation in the last few years when considering how high the budgets of games have become ? The answer, after taking into account the regular fare of games, is NO. We’re still killing those same old monsters which we killed 8-10 years back. Or we’re still racing those same old Ferraris which we raced a long time ago.

Agreed we might have got better graphics. And agreed that these days, you generally need about 17 fingers to play even a kids game. But when it comes to innovation, we’re still where we were about 5 years ago. There have been those stellar titles. But in general, you can bet on the fact that even the most hyped surrealistic game will be borrowing concepts from earlier games.

This article is so right and yet so hilarious that by the time you’re done reading it, you’ll feel that you’ve been conned all these years.

So what are you waiting for ? Click below and get ready for some great reading.
