It may not be as hyped-up as the other million-copy sellers, but Scribblenauts is living proof that quality and innovative gameplay still sells better than ads and publicity. With the Best Handeld Game award from the Best of E3 2009 Awards under its belt, the game went on an early launch in New York City, and now here it is, telling us that it went on to sell a million copies since then.

“We are extremely pleased with the sales of Scribblenauts and credit the game’s innovation and wide appeal in making it a hit with gamers of all skill levels,” said Martin Tremblay, President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Scribblenauts is one of our strong original brands, and we look forward to bringing consumers more quality gaming experiences as part of our portfolio game strategy.”

It’s refreshing to know that games can still sell a million even without the high-end campaigns. Scribblenauts, quite notably, came out in a time dominated by sequels, and lookie here, it’s a milestoner.
