Age Of Conan Takes Best MMO Awards at E3

aocWhile Gods And Heroes may have taken MMORPG’s “Best of Show” at the recent E3 Convention, three other leading gaming websites have other ideas. Preferring the world of Hyboria to that of Imperial Rome, IGN, Gamespot and Gamespy were in agreement as they awarded their ‘Best Game of ShowÂ’ prizes in the MMO genre to Age of Conan.

Gamespot gave AoC the  ‘Best Massively Multiplayer GameÂ’ of E3, saying, “based on what we saw itÂ’s the most promising massively multiplayer game in development today”. A representative of Gamespy stated “every time we see it, it manages to look better and better.” They awarded the game ‘Best MMOÂ’ of E3. Meanwhile, IGN awarded two prizes to AoC : Best Overall MMO and Best PC MMO.  “When you talk about the greatest fantasy writers of the 20th century, thereÂ’s no disputing the two names at the top of the list: J.R.R. Tolkien and Robert E. Howard Â…WeÂ’ve been waiting for an authentic Conan game for a long time and FuncomÂ’s certainly on track to deliver an experience worthy of the license,” and IGN staffer said.

Funcom CEO Trond Aas was ecstatic:  “The MMO genre is one of the most competitive in gaming today, and earning an award as the ‘Best MMO of E3Â’ from the three major gaming websites is a great achievement for Funcom…these awards are a testament to the quality of our game. They show that ‘Age of ConanÂ’ is seen by the worldÂ’s leading gaming sites as the best MMO currently in development.”
