Alone in the Dark set for December

There are few games as seriously creepy as those from the Alone in the Dark franchise. Survival horror fans are in for another icky treat as publisher Atari and developer Eden Games have announced that Alone in the Dark will make its next-gen debut come December on the PC, Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360.

Edward Camby will headline this fright night, and he’ll be battling the baddies in what looks like New York City’s Central Park. It’s still unclear whether he’ll be fighting shadowy creatures again, but the game will unfold in episodic fashion similar in execution to a TV series. This is perhaps to add a more riveting psychological effect to a game that has already made a lot of us paranoid in the past.

Some of the gameplay mechanics have also been revealed. The ability to wield multiple light sources and start a fire in real time are just some of them. Details are on the scant side this time, but we’ll fill you in for more when new word is at hand.
