Another composer leaves Square Enix

semusicAfter 15 years with Square Enix and a top-caliber résume under his belt, composer Masashi Hamauzu has left the publisher for reasons still unspecified. Hamauzu, whose latest output includes Final Fantasy XIII, joins the growing list of composers leaving Square Enix, following Kenichiro Fukui and Junya Nakano. What’s more, Square Enix Music Online reports that he won’t be the last.

To resign when your latest major output hasn’t even hit saturation certainly brings questions to mind, more so when he isn’t alone in doing so. His reasons for resignation are still unknown, as with the previous composers who’ve left before him.

 

Hamauzu-san’s work spans across several titles in his 15 years with Square, including SaGa Frontier, Dirge of Cerberus, and Final Fantasy X.
