Assassin’s Creed: Altair will take on a Robin Hood mission

(Please excuse me for a second while I try to calm myself down…5..4..3..2..1.) Okay, we’re good. So. We have just gotten our filthy hands on some new screens and info on the very drool-worthy Assassin’s Creed (Xbox360, PS3), and sorry, but there are no Jade Raymond bits this time guys.

This time around, we have much better stuff to bring you than the interviews you’ve been getting lately: new screens and more info on the game’s missions and gameplay combat. As we’ve been mentioning in our AC articles, one of the biggest things that the game will focus on is realism and keeping it grounded in history. And according to our source, this will be reflected in Altair’s sword fights where mere combo mastery won’t guarantee you victory. No siree, your success in sword fights will also depend on keen observation and killer timing.

Also, because Altair’s movements and acrobatics are based on a real-life trained athlete, he will of course be susceptible to your good old head butts and knocks to the head and will consequently suffer from injuries. He may be one helluva fighter, but he’s also human (in a realistically virtual sense. Whaaat?!). As for the optional side-missions, they’re basically all about gaining as much of the crowd’s sympathy as you can.

And what better way to do this than to go all Robin Hood-like and help the poor get their money back from the corrupt officials, right? Yep, one mission will ask to do just that, in order for Altair to gain more allies who will hopefully help him get away from the crimes he’ll commit in the future. Well, there you have it, that’s just about all the new info we were able to gather for now, but we will keep you posted when new ones surface. Meanwhile, enjoy the screens below.
