Autonet Mobile: turning your car into a mobile hotspot

Autonet MobileHere’s something for the burgeoning carputer crowd. A company called Autonet has come up with a gadget that’ll let you turn your car into a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. According to the company, the Autonet Mobile will let people enjoy internet services and Wi-Fi connectivity wherever and whenever they want to.

The Autonet Mobile requires no cellular data cars, wiring, or special software. You just turn it on, log on and surf. This little doohickey would also be good for tour buses and their ilk, and would be a great boon for Sony PSP and Nintendo DS owners stuck somewhere without a Wi-Fi connection.

Autonet will be unveiling the Autonet Mobile in Las Vegas on January 8 at CES International 2007. If you’re in the area, you can go and give it a little test drive yourself. For more information, click on the “via” link below.
