Axed Box Titles: Sorry, These Games Have Been Cancelled

We’re still brooding over Arrested Development’s early demise and now this…

Technophilia has put together a list of games that won’t reach your Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles because they have been cancelled for various reasons. We have announced some of them previously but here are the titles you can take off your wish list:

PS3

Theseis
A victim of its own production cost, Track7 has shelved its Greek Myth game epic for the PS3. The good news, you may still play it on the Xbox 360 and the PC.

Killing Day
Not confirmed cancelled but definitely MIA, and presumed dead by IGN, depsite impressive E3 sneak preview.

Elveon
Again, this epic fantasy title has not been officially declared a goner by its developer but anything about the game has been taken off 10tacle Studios’ website. PC and Xbox 360 versions still alive.

Endless Saga
Our posts about this game went from “Endless Saga announced” to “Endless Saga confirmed” and finally, “Endless Saga cancelled” all in a span of three days. Cause of death: “short of innovation and creativity we (Webzen) seek to achieve in online gaming space.”

Condemned:Criminal Origins
Plans were announced by Monolith Productions to bring Condemned: Criminal Origins to the next-gen consoles. Joystiq claims the title was executed back in September.

Smackdown 07
Cancelled on PS3 but the action will continue on the PSP and Xbox 360 ring. At least for this year. Wait for Smackdown ’08 on the PS3.

PS3 and Xbox 360
Oblivion
Rumors of bringing this game to PS3 fell of the grapevine in 2004, and dissolved into the ground. New rumors say the PS3 version could still come in the future.

Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Although an appearance on “next generation consoles” was mentioned it wasn’t specified if PS3 was one of them. A Ubisoft employee stated “we are not going to release DA for PS3.” That’s that.

Scarface: The World Is Yours
Gone from the PS3 and the Xbox 360 but not forgotten. Pacino continues his struggle to reach the top of the underworld on the PS2, Xbox, PC and PSP.

Fear and Respect
A victim of an overcrowded urban-action genre, the title has scrapped off the face of the Xbox 360 and PS3. And yes, that’s Snoop Dogg.

The Sopranos
Killed by lack of PS3 dev kits, the Xbox 360 version was scratched because , according to THQ, “didn’t look all that much better than the PS2 version.”

Frame City Killer
Cause of death, according to Namco Bandai, is “multiple reasons”. They also said “new RPG” will rise on the Xbox 360.
