Best game endings: would you agree?

CVG featured their list of the worst game endings just a few days ago, but the universe likes balance. So now they’ve come out with their list of the best. They busted out a dusty chest of nostalgia and took a trip down memory lane to produce a list that ranges from tear-jerkers to the most original endings.

One pick we’d all probably agree on would be Final Fantasy VII (please pass me the Kleenex). The list continues with the sappy endings of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Grim Fandango. Don’t be fooled though, as not all the entries would induce gushing tears or fade out with the sunset and a vast fields of flowers. They also list the most original. One example of which would be Silent Hill 2‘s alternate “Dog” ending, and to justify their pick, they pointed out that:

Unlike the other games in the series, Silent Hill 2 doesn’t have a ‘canon’ ending, but our favourite of the many possible wrap-ups is easily the ‘Dog’ ending, where you access an otherwise-locked hotel room to find a Shiba Inu hound sitting at a computer console, and then drop to your knees and cry “so you’re behind all this!” Then follows a credits song made out of dog barks, finishing with Maria in lingerie accompanied by an orgasmic moan. Genius.
