Bizarre Creations - Image 1After setting Project Gotham Racing loose on the streets, Activision through Bizarre Creations is unleashing yet another racer into the scene – Blur. Judging by the press release, the powerups, and the blasting-off-the-streets bits, this one points more to the Mario Kart side of racing than PGR. Activision has high expectations for this one, even going as far as saying that it’ll have the same success in its own genre as Call of Duty.

Here’s what I’m talking about, lifted straight out of the press release:

  • “20 cars on a track all targeting the finish line and battling each other as they trade paint”
  • “collect intense power-ups”
  • ” blast other cars out of the way with huge bursts of energy”
  • “boost their speed, and more”
  • “fast curves, sneaky alternate routes, hair-raising jumps”

Other features:

  • Competitive or team-based games modes, up to 20 players online
  • Four players split-screen

But where Blur is really gonna make buzz through is its social gaming experience feature, custom groups, where anyone can “create unique multiplayer modes based on their favourite ways to play the game.” These gameplay modes are then immediately shared through Blur‘s social network. With that kind of feature, you know which platforms it’s heading: Xbox 360 and PS3.
