Blizzard explains Imps’ change further

Imp - Image 1A couple of days ago, Blizzard implemented a hot fix that involves Warlocks, particularly their Imps. According to Drysc, the pets were performing better than what they originally expected. So the purpose of the correction was to remove Imps’ spell damage coefficient as well as any spell damage bonuses.

Now, a move like this is expected to have a backlash one way or the other. User Apokteinos passed by World of Warcraft‘s official forums site and inquired about the matter. The player mentioned that there is no reason to bring his Imp out of Phase Shift anymore because the +stam buff is better than whatever DPS the pet can contribute.

We can see that he was really pissed off but to his credit, his post was well-mannered and polite. Anyway, Tseric came to the aid of fellow Drysc and addressed the question. According to the Blizzard employee, the removal of the coefficient is just a temporary measure until they get the proper fix in. He explained,

The coefficient has been removed until we can get the proper spell damage fix into the game. When the coefficient was being applied incorrectly, utilizing talents created a dps output for the Imp which simply could not exist in the game without being a large and unintended advantage.

Well, Blizzard promised the last time around that the intended spell damage bonus will be implemented with the next side patch. For now, Warlocks, as always, will have to make do. We suggest you just consider your pets in passive mode…perpetually.
