Blizzard to WoW players: Why flame the hand that feeds you?

Blizzard on WoW hacking: Why flame the hand that feeds you? - Image 1It is no secret that account hacking is prevalent within the virtual worlds and one of the most favorite targets are World of Warcraft (WoW) players. Over at WoW‘s official community site for Europe, a handful of players are reporting incidents of this nature once more.

But the problem this time is not the hacking itself but the apparent slow response from Blizzard. One player noted that all they received from Blizzard is a template email saying “It will be investigated and resolved as best as possible” with no mention of what items will be recovered and most especially, when.

It seemed that Blizzard’s Aeus was somewhat tired of WoW forum flaming related to this as he said:

Would you prefer us spending time on providing regular updates, showing you what we’re doing, or would you prefer we spend those resources actually solving problems? We’re human beings doing this work, sometimes something goes wrong. For that one can only apologise. But why flame that hand that feeds you?

That last statement received more flaming from WoW forum mainstays as they answered back that Blizzard is not feeding them players and it’s in fact the other way around. They are argued that players are paying subscription fees and this is where Blizzard is getting its money. Aeus posted an answer once more:

We’re still a company and need to divide resources. We could, of course, hire LOADS more people and up the monthly fees. Slightly sarcastic perhaps, but yes, I think in the end, if you want to run a successful business, you have to allocate resources and balance out many factors, while still trying to provide the best possible customer support.

There. We know you have a lot of things going in your orc head right now because of Aeus’ statements. If you want to participate in this debate, the Read link should take you to the forum site. Or if you want, you can tell us what you think through the comments section below.
