Guilds come and go - Image 1Call it a possible deciding factor for guilds down the road. The Burning Crusade, as popular as Blizzard has made it now, may also be one of the biggest factors that can either bring a guild closer together or break it into splinters. As Tobold’s blog post mentions, TBC may very well be the reason for the reshuffling of entire guilds.

Specifically, the rush of some players to hit 70 and the lack of a preparatory instance to gear up and practice for some of the more difficult bosses aren’t helping. Writes Tobold,

This leads to the Burning Crusade making a more clear distinction between hardcore raiders and casual raiders. If the guild is very large, the hardcore just tend to forget about the rest and just organize their little 10-man raid for themselves… It would be surprising if they didn’t have the idea that its easier to leave the guild and join other people with the same mind set and problem.

One thing this brings about is the nature of guilds now, as opposed to earlier on in the game. Instead of creating a team that can help each other and become friends, Tobold points out that TBC may be bringing out the more ignoble intentions of loot and plunder rather than camaraderie and friendship.
