Call of Duty 4 patch 1.6 leaked, Variety Map pack bundled
As promised, patch version 1.60 of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has released on the PC, but as it’s a tad earlier than officially announced. This “leaked” patch contains the four new maps promised for PC gamers. Though we know your attentions will be focused on the additional content that NVIDIA sponsored for free, let’s not try to ignore the new fixes that Infinity Ward added to the leaked update. Details at the full story.
NVIDIA has released patch 1.6 of the war-shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on the PC, and with it came the promised four maps that released earlier this year on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The Variety Map Pack is included in the 286 MB or so download package.
The patch provides protection from denial of service attacks for CoD4 servers (including non-dedicated ones), an addition of filters for hardcore and old-school servers in the server browser, and every fix from patch version 1.1 to 1.5 to date.
Of course, those fixes from Infinity Ward doesn’t weigh very much in comparison to the additional content revealed in a previous post: the Creek, Chinatown, Broadcast, and Killhouse maps.
But note that this is not the official release of patch version 1.6. This is actually a package designed specifically for members of Club SLI at NVIDIA, though knowing most download veins, they’ll offer the update in a heartbeat anyway.
With this in mind, be wary of updating to version 1.6 yet, however, for playing online with 1.6 requires that the servers update to 1.6 as well. Custom servers will most likely be updated, however.
