Captain N approves: The Wiimote NES Zapper mod

Don’t you just love it when controllers go retro? Mod guru F00 f00 dropped by QJ.Net earlier to let us in on the latest project his buddy, fellow modder cyberpyrot, has just finished and is now showing off to the community – an NES zapper mod for the Wiimote. Check out the demo video below to see this controller in action during a bout of Far Cry:

cyberpyrot explains that he created the mod by first removing the Wiimote’s IR sensor, running extension wires through it, and re-installing it into a classic NES light gun. He then added wiring for the Zapper’s trigger, and positioned the Wiimote on the user’s wrist. Not exactly a simple snap-on attachment like the rigs being offered by third-party manufacturers, but cyberpyrot notes this mod’s surprisingly responsive to commands.

That’s the brief summary in this latest controller tweak brought to you by the Acid Mods crew – guys looking for full installation details are advised to head on to cyberpyrot full guide in the read link below. Needless to say, toss in a Power Pad belt and proprietary “N” Letterman jacket, and this would be way past cool…
