Polish off those rose-tinted glasses and pull up on that sofa, it’s going to be quite the blast back to the past.

First up is the timeless MEGA DRIVE version of Virtua Fighter 2. Master 9 characters and a countless number of devastating combos for the ultimate prize: the second World Fighting Championship title. With the Versus Mode fully available for some heated head-to-head pugilist action, Virtua Fighter 2 will bring you back to the days when all that mattered in a fight was just how good you were with your fists, and not how many fireballs you can throw. Virtua Fighter 2 sets you back by 800 Wii Points.

Next are two platform games originally for the SEGA MEGA DRIVE, Wonder Boy in Monster World and Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle. Old school platforming action meets RPG as you romp through Monster World in Wonder Boy’s shoes, gathering clues from townspeople and upgrading armor. In Alex Kidd, tear through eleven challenging levels and defeat bosses using a unique “Rock-Paper-Scissors” combat system to save the day AND your kidnapped father. Classic retro platforming at its finest, guaranteed! Both these games, going for 800 Wii Points a pop!

The odd one in the group but nevertheless just as special, this week’s VC swag also includes Shockman, an action shooter by Turbografx. Either play with a friend or go solo as you blast through massive levels with multiple routes, battling robots and gargantuan bosses in your path. Co-op’s highly recommended, as not only will you need all the help you can get, you can also access nifty multiplayer elements like “shared life” and a screen-clearing “Team Shockbeam” that’s only available in the 2-player mode. Shockman‘s available for download for 600 Wii Points.

What are you waiting for? The nostalgia bomb’s here, you just need to pull the pin!
