Cliffy B: two months after Gears of War

Cliffy BleszinskiOver at Evil Avatar, they have an interview with Cliff “Cliffy B” Bleszinski about how things are going two months after the birth of his baby, Gears of War. If you’re new to this, you should know he’s the head designer of Epic Games, so he’s the lead designer of Gears of War.

The interview is all good stuff and happy thoughts, of course. Cliffy B says things like, “Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive at both a critical and commercial level.” In other words, he says that critics and the media loved the game and everybody bought a copy of the game. In other words, the interview is a lot of stuff you already knew. It’s a very short interview, so here are the highlights of each of his answers:

  • Cliffy B is impressed at how good we’ve become at sticking grenades to each other.
  • He’s surprised how few of us comment about the lack of loading scenes. [Maybe it’s because it’s so seamless and immersive we don’t notice it?]
  • He plays both Ranked and Player matches.
  • He talks about more downloadable content like combat arenas. “I have a sneaky feeling that this [“Raven Down” and “Old Bones”] won’t be the last content that users see from Epic Games!” Or by “last content,” is he hinting at the sequel to GoW?
  • Flame bait. He thinks Marcus Fenix would win against Master Chief. The helmet ruins side vision, so Marcus could sneak up and tag a grenade or chainsaw the Chief. Hmmmm…

Like we said, good stuff and happy thoughts. So, have you guys gotten all the achievements yet?
