The press release for Command & Conquer 4 has finally caught up to the very early announcement from Electronic ArtsUK PR team. Maybe the PR team is caught in some weird time phenomena, dooming them to forever live one day ahead of the rest of humanity. Cool.

Anyway, this will be the final chapter in the Tiberium saga. It takes place after the events in Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. There are only six years left until Tiberium renders the earth entirely uninhabitable. With both the Brotherhood of Nod and the GDI facing annihilation, NodÂ’s enigmatic leader Kane takes off for GDI headquarters.

The game seems to have a lot of the new features outlined in that EA survey a while back — new class-based gameplay, mobile bases and persistent player progression throughout all game modes. Co-op campaigns are included in the GDI and Nod campaigns, and there’s a new 5v5 objective-based multiplayer mode.

Command & Conquer 4 is being developed by EA Los Angeles for a 2010 release exclusively on PC.
