Cynergy Labs goes Minority Report with Wii and infrared gloves

John Anderton and his finger sensors in Minority Report - Image 1It’s not uncommon for people to build upon other people’s innovative ideas. In this case, Cynergy Labs staff”>Rick Barraza of Cynergy Labs took cues from Johnny Lee’s infrared finger sensor idea and capitalized upon it. He has his own video demonstration of it, available for viewing after the jump.

What Johnny Lee hath replicated in real life, Cynergy Labs is now attempting to build upon – only instead of using an infrared LED array, reflective tape and a stack of playing cards, Cynergy Labs has infrared gloves.

Rick Barraza from Cynergy Labs demonstrated how his brainchild works, using the gloves as a wireless mouse to take an electronic picture of the Mona Lisa apart and put it back together again using his thumb, index and middle fingers. Of special interest is the discrepancy between Mr. Barraza’s ability to drag pictures using his thumb and index fingers as opposed to that of using the first three fingers of each hand.

While nifty, Cynergy Labs is still in the process of exploring it further using other software applications. If you’d like a glimpse of Mr. Barraza’s no-touch technology, called Project Maestro. check out the video below.
